AI Automation ROI Calculator

Will automating this task with AI pay for itself?

Enter how many people do the task, the hours each spends on it per week, their hourly cost, and the share of the work AI can take over. Then enter the cost to build the system and its monthly running cost. The calculator returns the hours saved per year, the net yearly savings, the payback period, and the 3-year ROI. Automation pays off when the hours saved are worth more than the running cost, and the build pays back within the time you are willing to wait.

How the calculator works

Every rule is printed here, so you can check the number or redo it in a spreadsheet.

  1. 1Hours saved per year = people × hours per week × 48 working weeks × the share AI takes over.
  2. 2Gross savings = hours saved × the loaded hourly cost of the people doing the task.
  3. 3Net savings = gross savings − 12 months of running cost (models, hosting, and support).
  4. 4Payback period = build cost ÷ monthly net savings.
  5. 53-year ROI = (3 years of net savings − build cost) ÷ build cost.

The work itself is on the AI product development page, and the longer explanation is in How much does it cost to build an AI product?.

FAQ

Questions about the ai roi calculator

What the number means, what it leaves out, and what happens to your inputs.

01How do you calculate the ROI of AI automation?

Multiply the hours the task takes by the share AI can take over, and value those hours at the loaded cost of the people who do the work. Subtract the yearly running cost of the system. Then compare the net savings with the build cost to get the payback period and the ROI over three years.

02What share of a task can AI realistically take over?

It depends on the task. Reading documents, drafting replies, and sorting requests often move a large share to AI with a person checking the result. Work that needs judgment on every case moves less. Test on 50 to 100 real examples before you trust a number, and start with a conservative share.

03What is a loaded hourly cost?

Salary plus benefits, payroll taxes, equipment, and office costs, divided by the hours worked. It is usually well above the base hourly pay. Your finance team can give you the number they use.

04What does an AI automation cost to run each month?

Model usage, hosting, monitoring, and someone to review quality and fix problems. Model usage grows with volume, so estimate it from the number of requests and their size. The LLM token cost calculator on this site does that part.

05Are my inputs stored or sent anywhere?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. Inputs are not sent to Corpvance or saved. Analytics records only that the calculator was used.
