LLM Token Cost Calculator

How much will your AI feature cost to run?

Enter the requests per day, the input and output tokens per request, and your model's price per million input and output tokens. Add the share of input served from a prompt cache if you use one. The calculator returns the cost per request, per 1,000 requests, per day, per month, and per year. Output tokens usually cost several times more than input tokens, so long answers drive the bill.

Prices are per 1 million tokens. The numbers below are examples: enter the current prices from your provider's pricing page.

How the calculator works

Every rule is printed here, so you can check the number or redo it in a spreadsheet.

  1. 1Cost per request = input tokens × input price + output tokens × output price, with prices per million tokens.
  2. 2Cached input tokens bill at the cached price instead of the full input price.
  3. 3Cost per month = cost per request × requests per day × 30 days.
  4. 4One token is about three quarters of an English word, so 1,000 words is roughly 1,300 tokens.
  5. 5The example prices are placeholders. Enter the current prices from your provider's pricing page.

FAQ

Questions about the token cost calculator

What the number means, what it leaves out, and what happens to your inputs.

01How do I calculate the cost of an LLM API call?

Multiply the input tokens by the input price and the output tokens by the output price, using the provider's price per million tokens. Add the two. Then multiply by the number of requests to get the daily or monthly cost.

02How many tokens is a word?

For English text, one token is about three quarters of a word, or about four characters. A 1,000-word document is roughly 1,300 tokens. Code, numbers, and other languages often use more tokens per word.

03Why do output tokens cost more than input tokens?

The model generates output tokens one at a time, which takes more compute than reading input. Most providers price output at several times the input price, so a feature that writes long answers costs more than one that reads long documents and answers briefly.

04How can I reduce the token cost of an AI feature?

Send only the context the task needs, cache the parts of the prompt that repeat, keep answers short, and use a smaller model for simple steps. Set a cost limit per user or per day before launch, and track the cost per successful task, not only the cost per call.

05Are my inputs stored or sent anywhere?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. Inputs are not sent to Corpvance or saved. Analytics records only that the calculator was used.
